William A. Hardin
(July 29, 1862 – December 26, 1949)Obituary
William A. Hardin, son of the late Jacob and Mary Hardin, was born near Hardinsburg, Indiana July 29, 1862. He came to Iowa with his parents, at the age of 15, and they settled near Pleasantville. A few years later William came to Warren County and he has spent the remainder of his life in and near Carlisle, where he has been engaged in the occupation of farming. He was united in marriage September 3, 1890, to Miss Evaline Rees, of Carlisle. Into this home was born one son, Worth J. Hardin, who survives his father. He also leaves his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Veda Hardin, two grandsons, Edward and William Hardin, two grand daughters-in-law, Mrs. Wilma Hardin and Mrs. Dolores Hardin, and two great grandsons, Tommie and Jimmie Hardin.
Mr. Hardin suffered the loss of his dear companion December 23, 1944. He was of a family of nine children, two sisters and one brother having preceded him in death. Those surviving are Mrs. Edd Farley, of Carlisle, Mrs. Elizabeth Palmer of Waterloo, Fred Hardin of Salem, Oregon, Edgar Hardin, of Fresno, California, and Robert Hardin, of Waterloo, and a number of nieces and nephews and many friends. For a number of years, Mr. Hardin was a member of the United Brethren Church of Carlisle, but about the year 1909 he and his wife transferred their membership to the Carlisle Methodist Church, where he still remained a member. At one time he served as a member of the Official Board of this church. Mr. Hardin has been in failing health for the past two years and everything was done by his family for his care and comfort. But he gradually grew weaker and the end of his earthly life came Monday morning, December 26, 1949, at the Grayson Nursing Home in Des Moines. He had reached the age of 87 years, 4 months and 27 days. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 28, 1949, at 2 p.m. at the Carlisle Methodist Church, with pastor, Rev. Milo E. Morris, in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. Ray Schooler and Wayne Thomas, of Carlisle. Interment was made in the Carlisle Cemetery.
