Mrs. Charles D. Speed
Mary, daughter of William and Elizabeth Hyer, was born near Knoxville, Iowa, March 23, 1859, and died at her home in Indianola, December 17, 1938. She was united in marriage to Charles D. Speed in 1879. To this union were born eight children. She is survived by four children, Lester Speed of Indianola, Lawson Speed of Tugis, S. D., and Lawrence Speed and Mrs. Lottie Bowles of Truax, Sask., Canada, 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She united with the Seventh Day Adventist Church 45 years ago and remained a consistent member until death. The funeral was conducted Dec. 19 from the Orr Funeral Home in Indianola by Pastor, A. J. Gordon of Des Moines.
