Myrna Colleen Couch
(December 27, 1948 - October 2, 2022)

Myrna Colleen (Sill) Couch was born December 27, 1948 to Orville and Mary Sill in Indianola, Iowa. Myrna passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 73. Myrna met the love of her life and future husband, James Gilbert Couch, in the summer of 1967. They were married on August 25, 1967 and made their first home in the town of Indianola. Two sons were born to their union, James Brandon and Ryan Patrick. They raised their family in the home they built in rural Indianola. During her career, Myrna worked at Midwest Uncuts and Myrna’s Upholstery in Indianola, was a civilian contractor at the U.S. Army Recruitment Center in Des Moines, became a federal employee with USDA, Livestock Market News, and retired from her 25+ year Federal career with USDA, FSIS in West Des Moines. In her free time, Myrna enjoyed reading, camping, boating, tending her flowers, shopping, watching her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports. Her and Jim attended every sporting event of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren they could. In her later years, she would travel and take girl trips with family and friends, which included seeing lighthouses with Jim. She also went Black Friday shopping every year with close friends and her granddaughters.
Myrna is survived by her son, Ryan Couch; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Zwack, Kelsey (Kris) Hentschel, Haley (Garrett) Couch, Alex Couch, Emily Couch, Mason Couch, Jillian Couch, and Samantha Couch; great-grandchildren, Landon and Tristan Hentschel, and Briella and Jordan Zwack; siblings, Virginia Wheeldon, and John (Sharon) Sill; niece and caretaker, Lori Herman; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Gilbert Couch; son, James Brandon Couch; parents, sisters, Lynn Sill, Harriet Allgeier and Joyce Sill.
Services for Myrna Colleen Couch, will be held 7 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow services and inurnment of cremains will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Churchville, IA at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, prior to services at the church. Memorials may be given in her name to Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church.
