Marie Dorene Phillips
(March 8, 1965 - March 12, 2023)

Marie Dorene Phillips, 58, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at home in Indianola. Visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m., Friday, March 17, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Sandyville Cemetery. Marie was always keeping busy doing something. She loved shopping, playing games, fixing things, tie-dying clothes, but most of all she loved to spend time with family and friends. She also had great pleasure collecting treasures for friends and family no matter how big or small. When you would go visit her, don’t expect to walk away empty-handed. She cared deeply about everyone she met and would give them the shirt off of her back if she thought that they needed it more than her. Marie was definitely one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Left behind are her husband, Scott Cowell; best friend, Don Phillips; mother-in-law, Judy Phillips; daughter, Amanda (Billy Byers); grandsons, Gabe Neer and Blake Byers; siblings, Jacquita Thomas, James “Wally” (Carol) Cleaver, and Mary (Bruce) Cleaver; and her nieces and nephews, that she loved like her own. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Autie and Cora Cleaver, Jerry and Bessie Veatch; parents, James and Mary Cleaver; in-laws, Richard and Deb Cowell, and Donald Phillips; nieces, Sydney Thomas and Jamie Berkley; and nephew, Marcus Phillips.
