John W. Amlong

John W. Amlong died at the soldiers home in Marshalltown Tuesday, Oct 18, 1904, aged 73 years. He had been sick for some time and his death came not expected. Mr. Amlong was born in Pennsylvania and came to Warren County in 1874 and settled at Spring Hill where he lived until several years ago he moved to this city. He was a member of the 8th New York heavy artillery during the Civil War and was a faithful soldier. The body was brought to the home of his son, R. T. Amlong of this city and the funeral occurs today, Thursday at 2 p.m. This is another of the old army mustered out.
