Nancy Ann Mikles
(February 6, 1936 - August 7, 2020)

Nancy Ann Mikles, 84, passed away Friday, August 7, 2020, at home surrounded by her family. Services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2020. You may join family on the Live Stream of her service here on her obituary page of our website. Burial will follow in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughters, Vicki (Kevin) Pasion, Teresa (Patrick) Cooney, Shelly (Charles) Deroian, Susan Mikles, daughter number five, Kathy Veach; 12 grandchildren - Debbie, Jaimie, Kelli, Sean, Ryan, Adam, Brandon, Joshua, Brent, Jordan, Kathryn and Andrew, 23 great-grandchildren; four brothers Eugene, David, Jerry and Tim; and five sisters - Janice, Joyce, Judy, Ruth, and Linda. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darrel Mikles, and her parents, Harold and Pauline Scurlock.
Nancy invested in a life well lived, the evidence of which is her legacy of four loving daughters, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, countless friends and acquaintances whose lives she impacted deeply. She has friends who survive her that have known her for over 70 years, not the least of which was her brother-in-law Doyle (her husband’s twin brother) and the third person of the “Three Musketeers” who hung out all through junior high and high school until Darrel proposed.
She loved music. She sang in the church choir, did duets with her husband and even solos. She always had a song in her heart, humming or whistling as she worked. She loved making flower arrangements and decorating. Decorating everything, i.e. her house, the church, parties and special events. “Barbie Birthday Cakes” (making a cake skirt for a Barbie doll) were a tradition in her family.
The biggest love of her life was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Everything she lived for and cared for began and ended with her love for him. She first knew Christ as a young girl and literally grew up with Him. She oversaw the spiritual training of her kids at home and still had time to teach Awana Sparks, Pioneer Girls, Junior High Sunday School and many Ladies’ Bible Studies over the years. She invested in the lives of individuals over the years that will forever be changed because of her influence and her prayers. She was a faithful servant. Her life was filled with joys and sorrows, trials and celebrations, but through it all she and Darrel were of those who endure. (Hebrews 10:36-3) They clung to each other as they each clung to the Lord and put one foot in front of the other without complaint.
We would like to acknowledge and give a special thank you to Home Instead Senior Care and Suncrest Hospice for the wonderful, compassionate care and support they gave both to Nancy and her family.
Public visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Indianola Regular Baptist Church where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. using CDC Guidelines. Memorial contributions may be given to the family in her name for a memorial to be decided at a later date.
