Funeral services for Billie L. Davidson, 90, who passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 in Des Moines, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 31, at Indianola First Assembly of God Church. Friends may also join the family on our Livestream beginning at 11 a.m. on Billie’s obituary page of Overton Funeral Home’s website. Burial will be in the New Virginia Cemetery.
Billie was born in Indianola on June 15, 1930. The oldest of 4 children, she grew up in New Virginia, Iowa, where she graduated from high school in 1948. Billie was joined in marriage to Ron Davidson on March 30, 1949. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona, for a short time while Ron was in the Navy. Upon returning from Arizona, they lived in New Virginia before eventually moving to Indianola in 1958.
Billie worked for Aetna Insurance and Northwestern Bell, eventually retiring from US West. Most folks in Warren County would remember her as a people greeter at Wal-Mart. She rarely met a stranger and would become Grandma Billie or Aunt Billie to many.
Billie’s favorite team was the Iowa Hawkeyes. She attended football games and basketball tournaments for many years, and collected memorabilia. She loved to sing and dance, with Saturday nights being devoted to Lawrence Welk and many other musical shows. Billie was a member of the choir at The First Assembly of God, and also volunteered her time working in their community food pantry.
Survivors include her children, Cathy (Leland) Webb, Terry (Sandi) Davidson, Rhonda (Kermit) Tomes, Lisa (Barb Ribeiro) Davidson; grandchildren, Kyle Webb, Shannon Ren, Chad Elbert, Kameron Tomes, Nick Ribeiro, Paul Maurizio, Tina Calhoun, Ryan Eichner, Joe Eichner, Keiffer Simmons, Jasi Adams, Kennedy Adams, Harley Harding, DeLynn Miller, Amber Miller, Christie Danielson, Jada Danielson, Dakota Danielson, Jerry Danielson, and Kenzley Danielson; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brayden, Brock, LillieAnn, Kylen, Kareline, Zach, Lilly, Conner, Izzy, Aveline, Carter, Kameron, Haydunn, JayLynn, Allie, Brooklyn and Elira; great-great grandchildren, Arijana, Kinley and Waylon; brother, Steve Hilton and her dog, Lady. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lucille Hilton; sister, Barbara Kimzey and brother Gerald Hilton.
Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, October, 30, at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given in her name to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
