Celebration of life services for Pamela Sue Andersen, 72, of Norwalk will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Soteria Des Moines Church, 3250 S.E. Soteria Ave., West Des Moines, IA 50265. Pamela was born to Raymond and Voncile Grell on September 7th, 1948 in Fort Dodge, IA. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1966. She was joined in marriage to Dean R. Andersen on November 30th, 1968. They were blessed with two children, Amy and Bryan.
The family resided in Fort Dodge, IA until 1978 when they moved to Norwalk, IA. Pam had a love for children and was an in-home daycare provider for several years. She assisted with her church’s Sunday school, nursery, and pre-school programs. Pam then became employed at Farmland/Nationwide Insurance, eventually working as an underwriter for 30 years until she retired.
Most of all, Pamela loved to be with her family. She loved watching her grandchildren’s activities and taking them on trips. She liked to watch the Cyclones and Cubs with her son, Bryan. She went on vacations to Maine, Hawaii, and Canada with her husband, Dean. She also liked cuddling and spoiling her dog, Rizzo.
Pam enjoyed the company of her friends. She always had a big smile and positive attitude. She attended bible study groups with the girls and also had many close friendships with the people she worked with at Nationwide. She was an excellent cook and would always make cookies and brownies for her friends and grandchildren.
Pamela was passionate in her faith in God and was always striving to be a better Christian. She attended New Life Lutheran Church in Norwalk for many years. She decided to expand her understanding of the bible and recently found a new church in Soteria. She was very excited about her new church and looked forward to the services every week.
She is survived by her husband, Dean; children, Amy (Bob) Howell and Bryan Andersen; grandchildren, Chloe and Zachary Howell; brothers, Jeff (Cheri) Grell and Kirk (Amber) Grell; puppy dog, Rizzo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Voncile Grell and a sister, Debbie Poundstone.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Soteria Des Moines Church or Indianola Athletic Boosters in her name.
