Mary Jean Bunting
(May 27, 1939 - November 29, 2020)

Mary Jean Bunting of Holiday Island, Arkansas was born May 27, 1939 in Somers, Iowa to Claire and Catherine (Fessler) Erritt. Jean Passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 in Bentonville, Akransas.
Jean retired in 1999 from the Indianola School system and she and her husband retired to Holiday Island, Arkansas. She served with the Indianola School District as Guidance and Athletic Secretary for several years and then served as Athletic Department Secretary for 20 years. In 1994 she was honored by the Indianola Athletic booster club as the fan of the year. She helped create SCAB (Senior Class Athletic Boosters) for the students. In 2011 she was inducted into the Indianola High School Hall of Fame, at that time she was the only non-athlete to receive such an honor. She enjoyed her friends in card clubs, TTT and other activities. On retirement in Arkansas she was a member of the Holiday Island Community Church and served as a greeter and on the Care Giving Meal Committee. She was a member and officer of the women’s golf league (HILGA) and enjoyed their fellowship. She was in many other activities, giving freely of her time.
Jean is survived by her husband of 61 years, Keith Bunting; son, Brad Bunting of Indianola, Iowa; daughter, Jodi Leibowitz and husband, Jason of San Jose, California; five grandchildren, Alexis (Beau) Backhaus, Cam (Jordan) Bunting, Trey (Megan Buitendorp) Bunting, Henry Leibowitz, and Hadley Leibowitz; two great-grandchildren, Brecken Backhaus and Cooper Bunting; brother, Brian Erritt of Sac City, Iowa; sister, Paula Weisenborn of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claire and Catherine Erritt; brother, Max; and sister, Pat.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m, Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home, Indianola, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 1 to 2 p.m. Family will attend private brief grave site service.
