Janine (Hess) Jensen was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Jay and Fonda Hess on November 11, 1964. She graduated from Southeast Warren Community School in 1983, then attended Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo with a degree in Animal Husbandry. She worked with a traveling Veterinarian as she launched her career, where she met the love of her life. She married Kurt Jensen on June 16, 1990. Janine then worked for Mercy Hospital in the Cath Lab Department for the last 20 years, as well as running the family owned pest control business, and the occasional catering gig.
As you can tell Janine had a strong work ethic. She would pride herself in a job well done. While her work kept her quite busy, she always had time for family, friends and fun. She loved sharing with others especially with her gift of cooking, and the party or holiday dinner never started until she showed up with brisket, ribs, or her famous stuffed peppers. Janine loved to spend her summers in the sun, especially camping during the Warren County or Iowa State Fairs and catching a car race when she could. As you all know, she never knew a stranger. She made friendships that would last a life time in an instant. Her famous Janine-isms will live on forever in our homes, kitchens and workplaces telling us to “hold on peaches” or “this ain’t my first rodeo” and to “get your big girl pants on”.
Her daughter, Baylee, had a special place in her heart long before she entered the family in 2001. That sparked a love that she never knew would fill her heart so completely. Being a mom was something she always wanted.
She is survived by her husband, Kurt; daughter, Baylee; step-daughter Shelby from San Antonio, TX; Mom and Dad, Fonda and Jay Hess; brother, Jody Hess; sister, Jamie (Hess) Peters and her husband (Shawn) and nephews, (Riley, Caden, and Bodie). She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Deyo and Ruth Hess and Bud and Wilma Wright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and Strands of Strength. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
