April Dawn Betsworth
(April 18, 1966 - January 11, 2022)

April Betsworth, 55, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Des Moines, IA. Celebration of life services will be held 7 p.m., January 21, 2022 at Overton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to service from 4 to 7 p.m. at Overton’s. Face masks are recommended. Inurnment will take place at the Indianola IOOF Cemetery at a later date. April was born in Des Moines, Iowa on April 18, 1966. April grew up in Carlisle, Iowa, and graduated from Carlisle High School in 1984. She attended DMACC where she studied accounting and graduated in 1985. April and David met in the summer of 1986 at Camp Wesley Woods outside of Indianola, where they were both volunteering as camp counselors. In 1987, April and David were married and started a family. In time, April and David would have three children, Christopher, Katie and Emily. As the years went by, April worked part time outside the home, but she saw her primary role as being a stay at home mom, raising their three children.
As the years followed, April focused on being a mom. There were many dance recitals for both of her daughters. April was a Girl Scout leader for both of her daughters and a Girl Scout service area manager for many years. She attended every one of her son’s football games and band concerts. April was very involved in her daughter’s cheerleading, baton twirling, and show choir.
As the children grew, April took a full time job with the State of Iowa working in both Des Moines and Indianola. April enjoyed spending time with friends, going to craft shows, garage sales, and having cook outs/bonfires. Eventually grandchildren came along, Elijah, Isajah, Luna, Iris, and Flora. April’s greatest joy was being a grandma.
As a grandma, she spoiled her grandchildren like there was no tomorrow. She gave the biggest, loudest gifts and while frugal in every other area she spared no expense in showing her love for them. She was in constant contact with her daughter-in-law, always wanting to know every detail of her grandchildren’s lives. She visited her grandchildren every chance she got and frequently joked that she would happily move to live near them. Without a doubt, she was the best grandmother of all time.
She is survived by her husband, David; children, Christopher (Candice) Betsworth, Katie (Bryce Stevens) Betsworth, Emily (Drew Nichols) Betsworth; grandchildren, Elijah, Isajah, Luna, Iris, Flora; sibling, Michael (Sheila) Fetters; mother, Karla Fetters; nephews, James and Nicholas Fetters; niece, Amanda Fetters.
Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hand or Kiya Koda Humane Society in her name. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, http://www.overtonfuneral.com/
