Joy Elizabeth Graham,89, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Good Samaritan Center in Indianola, Iowa. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following at the Belmont Cemetery in Milo, Iowa.
Joy was born March 14, 1932 to Forest and Della VanderLinden near Milo. She grew up in the Milo area and graduated from Milo High School. On February 16,1954, Joy was united in marriage to Richard Wright. To this union four children were born, Rebecca (Becky), Joleen, Joe, and Lisa. Later in life Joy married Guy Graham.
Joy was a stay-at-home Mom and 2nd hand on the farm east of Milo. After the children were older, she went to work as an administrative secretary at Iowa Realty in Indianola. After years in Indianola she moved to Franklin, Tennessee, where she worked for the county of Washington in the recorder’s office. Joy loved planting and caring for flowers, cooking, and entertaining family and friends.
Joy was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Richard Wright, husband Guy Graham, along with brothers Richard, Dean, Edwin (Bud), sisters Margery Jones, Doris (infant), Marilyn Griffith, Kathryn Wadle, and daughter Becky (Tim) Elbert. She is survived by daughter Joleen Wright of Indianola, son Joe (Peggy) Wright of Milo, and daughter Lisa (Donnie) Wilson of Indianola. Sisters Irma Jean Gass of Melcher, and Rita Howe of Kearney, NE. Grandchildren Randi (Grant) Marshall of Skiatook, OK, Mitchell (Chelsea) Elbert of Winter Park, FL, Ethan Elbert of Tulsa, OK, Jill (Jason) Moore of Indianola, IA, Hannah (Josh) Saf of New Virginia, IA, Bryce (Amie) Wright of Sanoita, AZ, Brett (Whitney) Wright of Indianola, IA, Benjamin (Jordyn) Wright of Scottsdale, AZ, Jered (Chelsie) Wilson of Indianola, IA, Ashton Wilson of Indianola, IA, Denison (Tyler) Hinton of Cedar Falls, IA, thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 18th prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Overton Funeral Home, where family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be made to The National Alzheimer’s Association or Homestead Memory Care Facility of Knoxville, IA.
