Jeffrey Todd Jorgensen (Jorgy), 54, passed away on May 29, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, unexpectedly from a heart attack. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for everyone who knew him.
Jeff (Jorgy) was born on May 31, 1967 to Karen M Berndt – Jorgensen and Robin Jorgensen in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was the youngest of three siblings. Growing up he was the protector of his two sisters. He attended Indianola High School, where he graduated and then went on to study at Drake University in Des Moines.
Jeff worked for Principal Financial Group as a financial analyst and was recently promoted to team lead of two different teams. He was immensely proud of this and adored his work crew very much.
Jeff had no enemies, only friends. His kindness and caring for others were unmatched. He always wanted everyone to have fun and be happy. He was unique and a one-of-a-kind guy. He was big-hearted, thoughtful, loyal, and hilariously funny. He had an infectious sense of humor.
Jeff had many hobbies, passions, and skills. He loved playing pool and was great at it, winning many awards over the years. He was an avid bowler. He loved Hot Air Ballooning and even helped crew some Hot Air Balloons events in Indianola. He enjoyed cycling and biking the trails around Des Moines. He was big into computer gaming; his favorite game was WOW also known as Worlds of Warcraft to the non-gaming person, LOL. He enjoyed traveling and road trips with his family and friends. One of his greatest passions was music, starting from an early age when he played the bass in orchestra, to being a music DJ for special events. He enjoyed classic rock music, with an appreciation of all music, and often spoke of his love of music on the many car rides and road trips he took with his family. He also loved going to music concerts. He was an avid supporter and participant of air guitaring and air drumming. LOL. He enjoyed seeing movies in the theater and would often quote funny movie lines, He liked to respond to a long text with a “K”. He was a lover of all things orange. He loved the color and anything that tasted orange, orange drinks, candy, cakes. Anything flavored orange he was a big fan. He even had an orange Chevy Camaro that had a personalized license plate that said “UMPLMPA” (oompaloompa). He always had a dish of orange candies available at his house, as well as orange hand soap in his bathrooms.
He is survived by his sisters, Tracy (Mike) Golwitzer (Van Meter, IA) and Kelly Jorgensen (WI); nieces, nephews and best friends Amanda (Bryan) Schlotterback (Des Moines, IA), Shane Butcher (WI), William Butcher (Des Moines, IA), Monica Halverson (Des Moines, IA); uncle Kenneth (Nancy) Berndt (Green Bay, WI); cousins, Sandra (Bob) Bloedorn (Green Bay, WI), Michael Laes – Julie Larson (WI), Chris Berndt – Jill Lorenz (Green Bay, WI); great nieces, Haley Schlotterback (Des Moines, IA), Hannah Schlotterback (Carlisle, IA); and great nephews Jake Schlotterback (Columbia, IA), Skyler Schlotterback (Charlotte, NC).
