(July 21, 1861 – September 20, 1960)Former Resident Dies in Missouri
Funeral services will be held at the Christian Union Church in Milo at 1 o’clock Friday afternoon for Mrs. Tom Cleveland who died at her home in Kansas City Sept. 20. Mrs. Cleveland was 99 years old at the time of her death and had been in good health until about a week ago, when she suffered a stroke. Mrs. Cleveland grew up in Warren County and lived here until about 20 years ago when she moved to Kansas City. She is survived by two children, Dr. Carl Cleveland of Kansas City and Mrs. Esta Griffin of Independence, Mo., and several grandchildren. Mrs. Josie Crabb of Milo is her sister and a number of nieces and nephews also live in Warren County. [Burial was in the Liberty Center Cemetery, Liberty Township, Warren County, Iowa. Margaret Brinsey Cleveland, 99, was born in Wabash, Ind., July 21, 1861. She was the daughter of Silas and Elizabeth Kline Greenfield (deceased) of Milo. She was married to Thomas B. Cleveland Nov. 7, 1883, and to that union two children were born, Esta May Griffin, Independence, Mo., and Dr. Carl S. Cleveland, Los Angeles, Calif. Her husband preceded her in death May 20, 1932. Mrs. Cleveland was a member of the Christian Union Church at Milo for many years. She was ill only a short time and died Sept. 20, 1960 at her home in Kansas City, Mo. Besides her son and daughter, she is survived by her sister, Mrs. Jose Crabb of Milo; three grandchildren, Mrs. Mildred Shupe, Buckner, Mo.; Dr. Carl S. Cleveland Jr., Kansas City, Mo.; and Mrs. Louise Baker, Independence, Mo; five great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 1960, at the Christian Union Church, Milo. The Rev. J. W. Garbinson, assisted by the Rev. Delmar Cauklins, officiated. Interment was at the Liberty Center Cemetery.
