Van Olive (Mitchell) Parkins
(July 1877 – February 20, 1960)

Chariton Herald Patriot, Chariton, Iowa, Thurs., Feb 25, 1960, p.13
Word was received of the death of Mrs. Van Parkins last Saturday at a nursing home in Indianola. The Mosher Funeral Home in Lacona was in charge of services Tuesday. Burial was at the Newbern Cemetery.

Rites Held Tuesday for Mrs. Van Parkins, 82
Lacona – Funeral services for Mrs. Van Parkins, 82, were held at the Mosher Funeral Home in Lacona Tuesday afternoon at 1:30. The Rev. William Ballard officiated, with Mrs. Gerald Needles at the organ. Burial was at the Newbern Cemetery. She is survived by three children, Darrell of Florida, Mrs. Gerald (Boydenia) Rodgers of Des Moines and William of Pennsylvania, none of whom were able to attend the services. Mrs. Rena Akins, a niece of Dexter, a grandson, Dick Parkins of Estherville, and a sister, Mrs. Icel Manser attended.
