Mrs. Septer Dies Here Saturday
Mrs. J. E. [Joseph E.] Septer, 85, died Saturday at her home, 706 W. Third [Indianola, IA], after several years’ illness. Services were held Monday, Sept. 23, at 2:30 p.m. at the Overton Funeral Home with Rev. E. W. Frohardt, pastor of the Methodist Church in charge. Surviving are her husband and four children, Mrs. L. E. Derrough of Glen Ewen, Sask. Canada, Mrs. Elmer Conklin and Homer Septer of Indianola, and Oran Septer of Des Moines. Mrs. Derrough arrived in Indianola Sunday. She and her husband spent some time here this summer but had returned home Aug. 15.

Mary Henson Septer, youngest daughter of Benjamin and Nancy Henson, was born in Warren County, Ia., on October 6, 1861, and departed this life Sept. 21, 1946, at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 15 days. Her entire life was spent in Warren County and her later years in Indianola. She was married to Joseph E. Septer Sept. 10, 1884, at New Virginia, Ia., To this marriage were born four children, Oran C. of Des Moines; Mrs. L. E. Derrough (Nora) of Glen Ewen, Sask., Canada; Homer C. and Mrs. Elmer Conklin (Mabel) of Indianola. Mrs. Septer loved her home and was devoted to her family. She loved the Sunday school and attended as long as her health permitted. She was a member of Rebekah lodge. She was stricken with palsy and had been an invalid for several years. She leaves her husband who has faithfully cared for her during her long illness, her children, 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Besides her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, one sister, and one grandson.
