Charles Edward Jones
(September 27, 1873 – March 17, 1946)

Charles Edward Jones, son of John and Margaret Hiatt Jones, was born Sept. 27, 1873, in Indiana, and died March 17, 1946, at Indianola. When a boy his parents moved to Cumming. He was married to Lucy Alice McCrewe April 24, 1895. To this union were born four children, Ralph Jones, Des Moines, Mildred Pappas, Cedar Rapids, Paul Jones, Joliet, Ill., and Mrs. Catherine Bedford, Burlington. He is also survived by his wife and six grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Jones came to Indianola in 1911. For a time Mr. Jones was employed at the municipal light plant. He was later appointed town marshal and was a custodian for the Irving school building for 16 years. He later was employed as a fireman at the college [Simpson College] and was there at his work when he suffered a stroke. He was for years a member of the fired department. Mr. Jones was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge and Woodman of the World. Services were held Tuesday, March 19, at 1:30 at the Orr Funeral Home with burial in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. The Rev. E. W.
