Obituary
Steven Thomas Poulter passed away August 7, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Upon his passing, it came as no great surprise to his family to learn that Steve is an organ donor. His passing will give the gift of a better life to many.
Steve was born December 9, 1963 in West Covina, California, to Thomas and Shirley (Benson) Poulter. He was welcomed home by three "big" sisters Monica, Teresa and Bonnie. A few years later, he welcomed home his new "baby" brother, Michael. Steve became an "Iowan" in 1978 when he moved with his family to Carlisle, leaving two sisters in California. Steve worked in the construction business for many years, working side jobs along the way. He was always meticulous in his labors and enjoyed the finished product.
Steve was one of the greatest Dallas Cowboy fans ever. He followed the team each season, collected Cowboy memorabilia and was always willing to discuss their highs and lows. He also cheered on the Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR racing. Steve is survived by his mother, Shirley; his sisters, Monica Poulter of Carlisle, Iowa, Teresa (Geoff) Ford of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, and Bonnie (Steve) White of Apple Valley, California; his brother Michael (Kim) Poulter of Des Moines, Iowa; nephews, Thomas, Randy, Christopher, Corey, Kevin, Justin, Michael, Ryan, Andrew; niece, Katie; many great-nephews and great-nieces who were all very special to him; uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas.
Please join Steve's family for a celebration of Steve's life at the Hartford Sportsman Club, 120 Elm Street, Hartford, Iowa, at 1:00 on Saturday, August 10.
