Nellie Arnold
(April 1, 1879 – January 15, 1924)

Nellie Walker, the youngest daughter of Thomas A. and Eliza A. Walker, was born April 1st, 1879, at the home one half miles east of Wick, Iowa, being the home where she resided until her death, January 15th, 1924, being 44 years, 9 months and 15 days old. During the last years of her parent’s life she remained with them and gave them constant and affectionate care. In her early childhood she was converted and joined the M. E. church at Wick, of which she remained a faithful and consecrated member till her death and she will be greatly missed in the work of the church, the Sunday School and the ladies aid society, to all of which she delighted to give her services. The church and the entire community feel that they have lost a friend whose religious and social life endeared to all. There are very few who will be missed in every good and social friendship as she will be and especially will they remember the loving and tender care she bestowed upon her father from the time of her mother’s death till the father was called to his Heavenly home.
She was united in marriage September 12th, 1920, to Eugene Arnold and he helped to give the father and home the needed attention. As was her custom, she attended the ladies aid society on Thursday at Mrs. Tillotson’s and in the opening services of repeating a verse of scripture, she repeated the tenth verse of the 40th chapter of Isaiah: “Fear them not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God [the rest of the obituary was not with the clipping] [copied from a scrapbook of newspaper clippings from the Warren County Historical Society Library, Indianola, IA]
