Ida Ione Judkins
(July 17, 1882 – July 20, 1923)

MRS. BERT JUDKINS
Ida Ione Sutton, daughter of Jane and Alexander Sutton, was born near Pleasantville, Marion County, Ia. July 17, 1882, and died July 20, 1923, aged 41 years and three days. She was married to Bert Judkins, December 23rd, 1908. To them were born five children, Dorothy, Helen, Herbert, James and Bobby. When but a small child her parents moved to a farm near Milo, Warren County, Iowa, where they lived for several years. Later they moved to Indianola where Ione attended high school and Simpson College, and taught school in the county nearby. At the time of their marriage Ione and Bert moved onto a farm, four miles west of Indianola, where they lived until three years ago, when they moved onto a farm near Norwalk and resided until her death. Ione is survived by her husband, five children, and her father, A. J. Sutton of Indianola, also six sisters and three brothers. Her living sisters are Mrs. Mary Erb and Mrs. Josephine Fawcett of Indianola; Mrs. Ella Wright and Mrs. Bertha Hadley of Whittier, Cal.; Mrs. Myrtle Nicholl of Iriquois, S. D.; and Mrs. Lou Eckels of Wolf Creek, Wis. Her living brothers are: Jasper Sutton of Des Moines, Overton Sutton of Milo, and Miles Sutton of Duluth, Minn.
Her mother and brother, George, departed this life about ten years ago. Ione’s life was one of the sweetest examples of true motherhood and loving companionship. She patterned her life after the life of her Master whom she loved and served. Jesus said, “He will be greatest in the kingdom of heaven who serves most.” There is no question about the service Ione gave. It was unselfish in the extreme. Her life will continue to be a benediction to her family and her friends, because what she was and did will live long in their memories and will lead them to a greater conception of what an unselfish life means.
