Joseph Brown Reid
(April 10, 1874 – April 17, 1923)

Brown Reid was born near St. Charles, April 10, 1874 and died at the home of his brother, Graham, at Waterloo, Iowa, April 17, 1923. Brown had gone to visit his mother and brother. He has been in poor health for some time but his death came as a shock to the community. The body was brought to St. Charles Thursday and the funeral was held in the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. M. J. Rarick, of Mitchelville who was a former pastor here. Mr. Reid was a member of the M. E. church. He leaves Mrs. Reid, three sons, his mother, two brothers and one sister and many other relatives and friends. Interment was made in the St. Charles Cemetery.
Graham Reid, of Waterloo, Myrtle Reid, of ames, Kenneth Browne, Mr. and Mrs. Weinman, Mr. and Mrs. Kimes and S. G. Haynes, of Indianola, Weede Martin and wife, of Cool, Sam Montgomery of Milo, and Mr. and Mrs. Gammon, of Des Moines, were among those from a distance who attended the funeral of J. B. Reed here Thursday.
