George Jefferson Kinnaird
(April 4, 1892 – August 1, 1940)

GEORGE J. KINNAIRD
George Jefferson, youngest son of Elmer and Sarah Kinnaird, was born April 4, 1892, near Norwalk, Iowa, and departed this life August 1, 1940, at the Harkin hospital in Osceola, Iowa, at the age of 48 years, 3 months and 28 days. When Jeff, as he was known to all, was 16 years of age, he moved with his family to a farm east of New Virginia and lived in this community for the balance of his life. H was a graduate of the Norwalk high school and received his advanced education at the Iowa Business College. In the spring of 1925 he was converted and joined the Methodist church at Medora and lived in the faith to the end. On March 31, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Grace McClain of Medora and to this union were born two sons, Cloyd Lavere of Indianola and Leland Jefferson at home. Mr. Kinnaird was an exemplary citizen. A man of sterling qualities and blessed with a keen intellect and kindly spirit, he was respected and loved by all. A man of sound judgment and integrity, throughout his life, he took a keen interest in public affairs and faithfully served his community as assessor and in other offices. A devoted and loving husband and father, the fine human qualities, which were his, continued through his fatal illness. Constantly he bore his burden with courage and faithfulness, with thought and devotion for his loved ones. Mr. Kinnaird is survived by his widow; two sons; one daughter-in-law, and two brothers, William A. of West Des Moines, and Charles E. of St. Charles, Iowa. His parents, sisters, Mae and Susie, and an infant brother preceded him in death. His memory shall be cherished by all who knew him. Services were held Saturday, August 3, at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in New Virginia with the Rev. W. W. Watson in charge. Interment was in the St. Charles cemetery.
