CRASH NEAR INDIANOLA; Woman, Baby Killed
Cars Collide Near Hilltop
Indianola, IA. – A woman and a baby were killed and a man was seriously injured Thursday in a collision of two cars eight miles south of here on Highway 69. The victims were Ethel Marie Alexander, 7 month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Alexander of New Virginia, Ia., and Mrs. F. W. Malin, 57, of Waverly, Ia.
Seriously injured was the Rev. Mr. Malin, 57, husband of the dead woman and pastor of the Peace Evangelical church in Waverly. He was taken to Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines. The Malins left Waverly at 4 a.m. Thursday to drive to Kansas for a visit with relatives. The Malin and Alexander cars collided head-on at the top of a small hill, Malin was driving south. Malin was unable to explain what occurred. Alexander said Malin passed a car then headed directly for the Alexander machine. Kenneth Chaplin of New Virginia, who was following the Alexander car, ditched his car to avoid the wrecked cars. His car upset and he was forced to break his windshield to get out.
