MRS. JAMES O. PIERCE
Mary E. Fulton, daughter of Samuel and Nancy Fulton, was born in Gallia County, Ohio, September 27, 1850. Her family consisted of three brothers and one sister. She is survived by two brothers, Rev. W. J. Fulton of Rio Grande, Ohio, and John, of Bidwell, Ohio. In 1868 she was united in marriage to Daniel A. Pierce who died March 27, 1887. In 1890 she was married to John C. Chumbley who died in 1900. In 1907 she was married to James O. Pierce and for nine years they lived in Liberty Center and the remainder has been spent in Indianola. She united with the Baptist church early in childhood and lived a faithful, consistent Christian life, always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. Besides her devoted husband she leaves many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. During her seven weeks sickness, her patience and Christian fortitude was remarkable. Death had no terror for her as she repeatedly expressed her desire and willingness to go. On June 25, 1927, at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 28 days, she fell asleep in the arms of Jesus. The funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 27, at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Sampson Cocks.
