Stanley Norman Harmison
(October 12, 1937 - October 30, 2019)

Stanley Norman Harmison born October 12th,1937 in Adelphi, IA to Leland and Ruth Harmison and passed October 29th2019 at Mercy hospice in Johnston Iowa. Proceeded in death by his wife Ethel (Northway) and his first wife Sandra (Hershey), son Steven, Mother Ruth (Stanger), father Leland, two sisters Gladys and Audrea, and one brother Donald. Survived by his son Scott, daughter in-law Karen (Gebhart), granddaughter Sandra Hodges and grandson Matthew, granddaughter in-law Jennifer (Manley) great granddaughters Tiarra, Kassandra, Kaitlyn, Paisley, and great grandson Chace. Sisters Anna Freeman and Judy Van Essen, brother Robert.
Stanley graduated from Runnells High school while working from the age of 15 ½ until retirement from Armstrong Tire and Rubber of 38 years. He resided at Runnells then rural Milo area 49 years.

Stanley had a full life starting in rural Runnells Iowa married to Sandra Hershey with a borrowed wedding dress from her best friend Beth Ann Battles. They had their first son Scott Allen there and after a couple of years moved to the city of Milo Iowa and built a house with the help of his father Leland and brother in-law Dudley Gilbert next to Rachel Harmison. There they had their second son Steven Norman. He continued to work at Armstrong Tire and Rubber while also working for the city of Milo in maintenance of the city and reading water meters of the households for the city. Tragedy hit in the year of 1966 when wife Sandra was stricken with cancer and died. Her mother Merle Mahaffey took over the household. They shortly moved back to Runnells where family and friends resided. There Stanley again served his community as part time sheriff. He was an outdoorsman on the weekends taking his son Scott and usually along with his brother in-law Bob York and nephew Jim, fishing and hunting the bottoms of Runnells in a 1967 Jeep Commando.
In the year of 1969 a new chapter, wedding to Ethel Northway. They purchased a piece of land off his brother inlaw Dudley Gilbert and built a new home of their own in Rural Milo Iowa built by her brother John Northway. Their life was now the farm life and still working for Armstrong. They raised two big Gardens while helping Dudley in all farming aspects while raising hogs, chickens, and injured calves from farmers. While raising two son's tragedy struck, during a car crash with his best friend, Steven lost his life in 1980. He and Ethel lived out their 49 years surrounded by family and great neighbors. Dad may you rest in peace and be reunited with your family in heaven.
