Gayland Howard McDole
(June 16, 1940 - December 9, 2019)

Gayland Howard McDole went home to our Father on Monday, December 9, 2019 at his home, after a long battle with cancer. Gayland was born June 16, 1940 in St. Mary's Iowa to Edd and Estella (O'Connell) McDole.
Gayland married the love of his life, Doris Darlene Dennhardt on November 3, 1959 in Moline Illinois. They raised four children on their farm outside of New Virginia. Gayland was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 45 in Des Moines. He also worked his family farm in New Virginia, Iowa. Gayland was always operating his bulldozers and working in his machine shed.
Gayland is survived by his children; Angelia Jo(Jason) Halifax of Waukee, Tina Lona Marie (Tom) Steil of Altoona, Sherrie Leigh (Scott) Brommel of Pleasant Hill, and Howard Merlin (Kelly) McDole of Sioux City, 17grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, sister Janice Long, sisters-in-law Delma McDole and Brenda McDole, brothers-in-law Lavern Dennhardt and Jerry Dennhardt, and many nieces and nephews, with special mention to his nephew Bret McDole who took great care of him in his last months of life.
Gayland was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years, siblings; Esther Younelly, Robert McDole, Florence Kortje, Jane Carter, Lyle McDole, Jack McDole, Lloyd McDole, Dorothy Hallam, Merlin McDole, Darrell McDole, and Ed McDole.
A celebration of life for Gayland will be held at a later date.
