John Melvin Probasco
(February 1, 1958 - December 24, 2019)

John Melvin Probasco, 61, of Johnston, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at home in Johnston. A celebration of life visitiation for John will be held from 6-8:00 pm Monday, December 30, 2019 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A prayer service will begin at 7:30 pm. Interment with military honors will take place at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in the Iowa Veteran Cemetery in Adel.
John was born on February 1, 1958 in Corydon, Iowa to John and Helen Probasco. John welcomed his daughter Kaylyn into the world in 1981. John then joined the United States Army from 1985-1993 and during that time served in the Gulf War through Operation Desert Strom/Desert Shield. Following an honorable discharge, John worked for CR England Trucking as a cross country trucker. He ended his career as an instructor for the company working for CR England over 20 years. John obtained an associate of science degree in information technology from South University. He loved to tinker with electronics and computers. John lived in Valparaiso, Indiana for 9 years and recently moved to Johnston, Iowa to be closer to family and to be papa to his two grandchildren Karly and Kash. John also loved guitars, but couldn't play a lick.
John is survived by his daughter, Kaylyn (Kenneth) Foutch, Grandchildren Karly and Kash Foutch of Carlisle, Iowa; Brothers Robert (Connie) Probasco, Bill (Melody) Probasco of Des Moines, Iowa; Sister Linda Cummins of Georgia; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. John was preceded in death by His Parents and Grandparents.
Memorial gifts may be given to the family to cover funeral costs and any excess, additional gifts will be donated to the Carlisle Fire Auxiliary.
