Virginia Rosemary Biddle
(February 16, 1931 - February 5, 2020)

Virginia Rosemary Biddle, 88, formerly from Milo, IA passed away at Valley View Village on February 5, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, February 10, 2020 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Milo. Interment will follow the services in Belmont Cemetery, rural Milo. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, IA from 6:00 – 8:00 pm with a rosary being said at 7:45 pm.
Virginia was born February 16, 1931 to Gerald and Mary (Schneider) Ripperger. Virginia graduated from Milo High School in 1949 where she lettered in basketball. As a teenager and young adult helped care for many of her newborn cousins.
Virginia married Earnest Junior “Joe” Biddle March 7, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. After marriage they farmed in rural Milo.
Over several years they owned and operated two Cafes on Main Street Milo: The Farmerette Café and the Milo Luncheonette while continuing to farm.
Virginia was an avid bowler. She enjoyed decorating Birthday and Wedding cakes as well as teaching cake decorating classes.
Virginia loved car racing, she was a season ticket holder for the Knoxville Raceway and attended several Indy 500 races.
Due to the decline in Joe’s health they gave up farming and moved to Lakeland, FL. Virginia lived in Lakeland for 30 years. While in FL she was the Treasurer for MoTrail Mobile Home Park Association. Virginia welcomed many guests to their Lakeland home and become their “tour guide” for central FL. She loved to travel and was able to see all 50 states and part of Europe. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Virginia is survived by John (Linda) Sargent and family, Ankeny, IA. Virginia and Joe didn’t have children of their own, but became second parents to John when he was young. John and his family grew to call Virginia Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. Sister: Beverly (Larry) Chicchelly, Des Moines, IA. Sisters-in-Law: Theresa Ripperger, Greensburg, IN and Pat Ripperger, Alpha, IL. Brother-in-Law Wayne Jones, Norwalk, IA. Many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Mary Ripperger. Her loving husband Earnest “Joe”. Sister: Phyllis (Lester) Metz. Brothers: Edwin (Janet) Ripperger and Harold “Doc” Ripperger. Sisters-in-Law Geraldine (Jim) Hankins and Josephine Jones. A niece: Marcia Ripperger and a nephew: Matthew Ripperger.
In memory of Virginia, donations can be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church, Warren County Historical Society, or Knoxville Raceway Charitable Organization (KROC).
