Obituary – Mrs. William Bumgarner
Lydia Ann Cladwell was born in Wayne County, Iowa, December 31, 1857, and died at her home October 22, 1913, at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 27 days. She was united in marriage to William Bumgarner September 7, 1882 at Humeston, Iowa, where they resided for some time. With their family they then removed to Warren County, which place has since been their home. The husband and father preceded her to that other world having departed this life August 18, 1901.
To this union were born nine children, all of whom are living. They are as follows: Carrie MGriff, of Jamison; Sylvia Roth and Levi, of Des Moines; Stella Irving, Hallie, Maude, Pearl, Fred and Willie, of this place. All are present except Fred who is in California. Besides the immediate family she leaves to mourn her loss three brothers, one sister and a host of relatives and friends. Her death came unexpectedly to the family and was a great shock to them. She was a good neighbor and a kind and loving mother and will be greatly missed in the home and the neighborhood.
A precious one from us has gone, a voice we loved is still; a place is vacant in our home which never can be filled.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the home two miles northwest of Liberty Center, conducted by Rev. C. E. Bennett, pastor of the M. E. church of Lacona, and interment was made at the Plain View Cemetery.
