Warren "Warnie" Edward Doss

Services for Warren ""Warnie"" Doss, 78, of Milo will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo. Family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. before the service on Wednesday. At the family's request no flowers. Memorials to the American Legion in Milo.
Warren Edward Doss was born April 16, 1932, in Woodburn, Iowa to Garl and Isabelle Hervey Doss. After his mother's death, his grandparents John and Alice Hervey raised him. Warnie graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1950. He married Rose Ellen Douglas on October 29, 1951. They were blessed with three sons: Vonnie, Joe, and Doug. Warren served in the Korean War as a surveyor from 1952 until 1954. After returning home he started Doss Construction.

Warnie enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, loafing, and going on drives with his dog, Chris. He was an excellent carpenter and passed this trait along to his sons. Warnie belonged and was active in the Milo American Legion and enjoyed helping his family and friends.

Warnie passed away at home on March 26, 2011 at the age of 78. Preceding him in death was his son, Doug. He is survived by his wife Rose "Posie" Doss; sons: Vonnie (Teri) Doss and Joe (Lana) Doss; daughter-in-law, Kayla Doss; nine grandchildren: Cory (Tracy) Doss, Jill (Jason Moore) Doss, Danielle (Nick) Robbins, Doug Doss Jr., Kenny (Chelsey) Doss, Levi Doss, Kenny Doss, Chris Doss, and Thomas Doss; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters: Velma Manning and Nadine Heathcote. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register, Wed 30 Mar 2011.
