Funeral Services for Jack Warren McKee, 89, who passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at The Village in Indianola will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Indianola, IA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Jack was born December 22, 1929 in Warren County to Warren and Wilma (Randolph) McKee.
A life-long resident of Indianola, Jack earned an accounting degree from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. He spent a majority of his career as an accountant for John Deere in Ankeny, an auditor for the Iowa Association of Cooperatives, and accounting for the Iowa Department of Education and Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, retiring in December 1991.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed time spent with his family. The entire family loved soaking up the sunshine while camping and boating at Rathbun, Red Rock, and Table Rock Lake in Missouri. He instructed everyone as we learned to ski, play games and relax. In their 60 years of married life, Jack and Earlene traveled to 48 states and enjoyed twelve warm winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ following retirement.
He is survived by daughters Michele (Dennis) Walker of Red Oak and Marcie (Dwight) Freeman of Indianola; grandchildren, Kevin (Rhonda) Kubli of New Sharon, Chris Kubli of Spirit Lake, Tom (Sue) Hess of Granger, Tami Hess of Vernon Hills, IL; two step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren. Also surviving, sister in-law, Beth McKee of Altoona; nephews, Richard (Jane) Nyswonger of Indianola, Craig (Laurie) McKee of Altoona, Kevin (Rebecca) McKee of Des Moines and Kent (Dawn) Mckee of Mingo; two sisters-in-law, Sue (Del) Gladson of Carlisle and Elberta New of Corydon, LaVonne Fortune, Gladstone, MO; brothers-in-law, Dwight Fortune and Paul Fortune, both of Promise City, IA, Jim (Eloise) Fortune of Knoxville and David (Judy) Fortune of West Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Earlene (2016); son, Warren (2003); his parents, Warren and Wilma; brother, Jerry McKee; sister, Jean Nyswonger; brother-in-laws, Marvin Nyswonger, Charles Fortune, Oliver New; sister-in-law, Janet Fortune; nephew, Raymond Nyswonger.
