Dwight E. Boothe Buried With Full Military Honors
Full military honors marked the funeral rites of Dwight Eugene Boothe, S 1/c, which were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. Edwin W. Frohardt, with American Legion ritualistic service at the graveside. Dwight was killed in an accident aboard the U.S.S. Phoenix, at anchor in the Philadelphia navy yard, last Thursday morning. He had served on this vessel since the start of the war. He was to have received his discharge in April.
Naval Escort – Fire Controman, 2/c, Vincent Gunderson, Dwight’s closest friend and buddy, was assigned by the ship’s commander as a naval escort to accompany the body to Indianola. Mr. Gunderson was chief of the crew to which Dwight was.. [assigned].

Indianola, IA. – Services for Dwight F. Boothe, seaman first class, son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Boothe of Indianola, who died Feb. 13 on board the U.S.S. Phoenix at Philadelphia, Penn., will be at the Methodist church Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The American Legion will assist with services.
