March 23, 1964 - March 24, 2019

Todd Allen Steward, age 55, died Sunday morning, March 24, 2019 at his home in Norwalk, Iowa.

Todd Allen Steward is the son of Allen and Karen (Ingle) Steward, was born on March 23, 1964 in Galesburg, Illinois. Todd grew up on his parents' farm near Galva, Illinois with his two younger siblings, Dan and DeAnna Steward. Growing up, Todd played on both the junior high school basketball and wrestling teams. He was a member of FFA, where he served as Treasurer during high school. He graduated from Galva High School in 1983. Following high school he worked laying carpet and installing tile for Carpet Time in Galva, Illinois. During this time he met Esther Detrick through a double date with mutual friends. They were married on February 14, 1986. They made their home in Galva, Illinois and to this union they had two sons, Christopher and Trenton. Todd worked at Classic Coach Interiors in Kewanee, Illinois for a year as a lead worker customizing vans for the handicapped. Todd and Esther moved to central Iowa to be closer to her extended family. Todd roofed for Newberry Construction in Ankeny, Iowa for a couple of years before going to work in 1990 for Paul Mueller Company (PMC) as a warehouse worker. He was promoted up through the ranks to a Buyer and supervisor at PMC in Osceola, Iowa, where he was employed for over 27 years. He enjoyed watching movies, woodworking, gardening, listening to classic rock-n-roll music and remodeling with his sons who both worked for his personal business venture, Affordable Home Improvements by Todd. He became a member of Des Moines Central Community of Christ Church in 2010. He served as a deacon beginning in 2013, with ministry on the leadership team, as an Assistant CFO and faithfully led as the Building and Grounds Officer over the Building Committee. At West Des Moines Community of Christ he respectfully served for over a year on the Facility Management team. Todd was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Herschel and Geneva (Larner) Steward, fraternal grandparents Forest and Bessie (Sarver) Ingle; and his father-in-law, Earl Wayne Detrick. Todd is survived by his wife, Esther of Norwalk, Iowa, and his two sons, Christopher and Trenton of Norwalk, Iowa. He is also survived by his parents Allen and Karen Steward both of Galva, Illinois and Zephyrhills, Florida; a brother, Dan Steward (wife, Deanna) of Galva, Illinois; a sister, DeAnna Black of Phoenix, Arizona; his mother-in-law Mary Jo Bowen (husband, Robert); a brother-in-law Joseph Detrick of Waukee, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Tirzah Lonsdale (husband, Richard) of Moline, Illinois; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Service 10:00 am Saturday, April 6, 2019 Des Moines Central Community of Christ, 1645 Pennsylvania Avenue.
