(November 10, 1925 - December 20, 2018)

Services for Wayne Hunerdosse, 93, who passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 28 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Carl “Wayne” Hunerdosse was born November 10th, 1925, in rural Warren County, Iowa. Wayne was the fifth child of six born to Ernest and Ethel Hunerdosse. He and his siblings attended the Mount Moriah Country School until the 8th grade. Work ethic and good, hard farm work were instilled in him at an early age.
Wayne faithfully served his country during the Korean War. He served in the army and was stationed in Germany. On February 15, 1953, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Manley at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola. In the spring of 1954, Wayne and Carolyn moved to the Lloyd VanPatten farm north of Medora, working and improving it for many years. In 1997, Wayne had the opportunity to purchase the property and made it his own where he resided until his death.
In the spring of 1956, the couple welcomed a daughter, Jane Ann and in the spring of 1960, they welcomed a son, Jory Wayne. Wayne and Carolyn celebrated 53 years of marriage before Carolyn’s passing in 2007.
Wayne served many offices in Warren County and the surrounding area. He was a long time member of the American Legion Post 165. He served with the Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation Board, Warren County Pork Producers, and Warren County Cattleman's Association. He also served on the Warren County Fair Board, the Interstate 35 School Board and was a long time member of the Medora Methodist Church serving as a board member and trustee for many years.
Wayne enjoyed vacations with friends and family and dearly loved his grand children and great grandchildren. He would fondly respond with a smile at being called “Little Poppa” and grandpa. Survivors include his children, Jane (Al) Durfey, Jory (Michelle) Hunerdosse; grandchildren, Amber (Teddy) Hutchinson, Chad (Erin) Durfey, Ashley (Marcus) Hendrickson, Aiden Hunerdosse, Meghan Hunerdosse, Calyn Hunerdosse; great-grandchildren, Alaina, Nolan, Ellie Hutchinson, Presley Hendrickson, Ethan Durfey and one Durfey coming in June; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Hunerdosse. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, parents, Ernest and Ethel Hunerdosse, brothers, Vernon, Darl and Roland Hunerdosse, sisters, Esther Hon and Neola Hawk.
