Thomas John Anglick
(August 19, 1945 - November 1, 2018)

Thomas John Anglick, 73, peacefully passed away on November 1, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, surrounded by his family.
Tom was born on August 19, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1963 he graduated from De La Salle High School in Chicago. Following graduation, he attended the University of Illinois, Chicago Campus. Tom was drafted to the Army in 1967 - 1969. He honorably served in Vietnam in an infantry division from 1968 to 1969. During his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and Vietnam Campaign Medal. After the war, Tom returned to Illinois and married Barbara (Smith), from Urbana, in September 1970. He graduated with a B.A. in American Literature from Calumet College.
Tom worked most of his career in sales for steel companies (Jones and Laughlin, J. Rubin and Company and Earl M. Jorgensen Company). He and Barb moved the family to Davenport, Iowa in 1976. He lived there with his family and worked until his retirement in 2015. Tom and Barb moved to Indianola in August of 2018 to spend more time with their children and grandchildren.
Tom was close to his faith as many of his hobbies involved activities with Our Lady of Victory in Davenport, Iowa. He enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, and playing cribbage. Even though there hasn't been a movie created he couldn’t sleep through, Tom enjoyed movies with stories of the mafia. Tom was a humble man and will always be remembered for his sense of humor, impeccable work ethic, and his kindness to everyone.
Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara, and children: John Anglick, Laura Anglick, and Andrew (Janel) Anglick, his sister, Helene Crothers, brother, Joe Anglickas and grandchildren: Samantha, Aidan, Emma, Jake and Jack.
Tom leaves this world to be united with God and his parents Stanley and Helen Anglickas.
Visitation with family will be held 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 10 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola; a rosary will be said at 3 p.m. Inurnment of cremains will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 13 in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter with full military honors.
