Deloris May Sweet
(October 16, 1930 - October 29, 2017)

Deloris Sweet (Grandma Sweet) 87 of St. Charles, IA passed away of a heart attack Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Deloris was born October 16, 1930 to Harry and Cloie Sowder. She graduated from Des Moines East High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Cecil (Gene) Sweet on August 9, 1953 where they resided in rural St. Charles.
Deloris retired in 1998 from State Surety where she wrote fuel tax bonds. She enjoyed her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, playing cards and bingo at the Indianola Senior Center.

She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, who was a stranger to no one and a grandma to all. Her love and loyalty to the MstM School District and surrounding communities went above and beyond just her grandchildren to all students involved in athletic sports. There will be one empty seat at all sporting events and one less cheer, but her presence will still be felt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene and twin sons. She is survived by three sons, Craig and Brian Sweet, both of St. Charles, Bruce Sweet (wife Deborah) of Mitchellville; 7 grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie, Ashley (Brandon), Hailey (Cory), Tommy, Blake & Hannah, one great grandson Joshua, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 2 from 4 to8 p.m. at the Martensdale – St. Marys High School. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 3 at 10 a.m. at the Montpelier Cemetery at Patterson.
