Services for Rosemary Jean Putney, 72, who passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in Des Moines, will be held 7 p.m., Friday, July 14 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. prior to services with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet friends. Cremation will follow services.
Rosemary was an extremely strong person, loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma.
In the earlier years, she enjoyed working in the flower and vegetable gardens and canned vegetables for the family. In later years, she and John expanded the flowers gardens to the beautiful gardens they are today.
Rosemary along with John taught their children to enjoy and appreciate family; furry family members included. They also taught how to enjoy the simple life and to work for what they needed.
Rosemary held down different jobs throughout her life, but took the most pride in being a wife, mom and grandma. She will be missed by many. Love you Mom........Love You too.
Survivors include her husband, John; children, Ricky (Teresa) Putney, Ronna (Todd) Vickroy, and Julie (Tony) Schwarting; grandchildren, Steven (Christina) Hillgren, Chelsea Putney, Chad (Ashley) Bottorff, Breanna (Alex Berry) Vickroy, Bailey (Dylan) Rankin, Johnny, Jacey, Jacob and Jaden Schwarting; great-grandchildren, Logan Hillgren, Calvin Derry, Zander and Deagan Bottorff, Brecken Rankin and Raelynn Sondag; sister, Theresa Way; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Martha (Morr) Ripperger and grandson Jared Schwarting.
