Lita Joyce Meints
(November 13, 1932 - June 14, 2017)

Lita Joyce Klein Meints, 84, of Indianola, died June 14, 2017 at The Village. After a long and blessed life, she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Lita was born November 13, 1932 in Fort Wayne, IN to Elmer William and Grace Baysinger Klein. She was baptized into the Christian faith April 16, 1933, and confirmed in her faith June 28, 1953. She grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central High School.
On June 13, 1953, she was united in marriage to Clifford Leroy Meints. Four children were born to this union. Lita worked as a secretary before her marriage. After many years as a homemaker, Lita enrolled at Simpson College and earned her BA degree in four years. She then worked as a substitute teacher for several years.
During her years in Indianola, Lita was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, where she served in many capacities. Later she became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Lita was also active in the community, serving on a number of boards and committees in city and county government and the public schools, and as a Cub Scout den mother and 4H leader. She had a particular interest and involvement in politics. Whenever Lita agreed to take on a responsibility, she did so with thoroughness and persistence.
Left to mourn her absence are her daughters, Linda Meints Meyer (Loren) and Myra Meints Siefert (Michael); sons, Glen Meints (Rebecca) and Kirk Meints( Beth); grandchildren, Preston Saal (Becca), Kirsten Meyer, Bailey Saal Lanning (David), and Derek Meyer; and great-grandchildren, Campbell Lanning, Ruby Saal, Lochlan Lanning, and Ezra Saal. Lita was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Leah Biddle.
A worship service is planned for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 27 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 26 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Indianola. I know that my Redeemer lives! To God be the glory.
