Obituary – Lola May Prall
Lola May Prall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Prall, was born April 6, 1893, near Carlisle, Iowa, departed this life at home of her parents in Carlisle, Sunday, December 1, 1918, after a brief illness, age twenty-five years, six months, and twenty-five days. She was converted when a child and had been an associate member of the Friends church, but since moving to Carlisle last August, had been a faithful attendant of the M. E. church and lived a clean, pure Christian life, always standing for the things that make a noble character. She was quiet, cheerful, kind and loving in disposition, always thoughtful of others. During her illness she spoke of it looking so bright above and that she would soon be there. She was a graduate of Simpson academy afterward spending one year at Cedar Falls at the Iowa state teachers college and returning again to Simpson College, where she completed a normal course, fitting herself as a teacher and at the time of her death, held the position as teacher of the seventh and eighth grades in the Carlisle school. She leaves to mourn her loss, her father and mother, three sisters, Edith, Eva, and Ruth, and three brothers, Arthur, who is now in France, and Stanley and Dwight, besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends. A short funeral service was held Monday afternoon at the grave in the Carlisle Cemetery, where the body was laid to rest. Rev. C. H. Miller conducted the service, using as a text, 1 Cor., 13:12. “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face; now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”
Card of Thanks – Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Prall and family wish to express their thanks to the neighbors and friends who have so kindly assisted them in their recent afflictions and death of their daughter, Lola, and also to those who so kindly remembered them with the beautiful floral offerings.
