Mary Ann Hall
(May 12, 1843 – May 11, 1883)

Indianola Herald, Indianola, Iowa, Thurs., May 17, 1883, p.2, col.2
DIED – At her residence in Otter Township, Warren County, on Friday evening, May 11th, 1883, Mrs. Mary Ann Hall, wife of M. J. Hall. Mary Ann Echelberger was born in the state of Ohio, May 12, 1843, and moved with her parents to Dallas County, Iowa, and then to near Birmingham, Van Buren County, where her parents still reside. She was married to M. J. Hall, Sept 17, 1874, and in the spring of 1874 they removed to near Lacona, this County, after remaining there about two years removed to the farm in Otter Township, where she continued to reside up to the time of her death. About one year ago her health seemed to fail, being trouble with sinking or smothering spells, but after a time these seemed to pass away and she in a measure regained her health. Wednesday evening she had a return of her old trouble but in a short time that also passed away. On Friday evening just after she retired she had another attack, which in a short time proved fatal. She leaves a husband and an interesting little family to mourn her sudden death, to mourn the loss of one so dear to them. With almost no warning she was called to pass through the dark valley. Almost before she or her family could realize the stern fact she was gone. It is often not the simple fact of dying that makes it sorrowful, but the changes it makes in the condition of those who are left behind, and if there is one whose presence is more than another, in our view, needed here, it is the mother of a young and growing family. May those thus bereaved be consoled by the prospect of again meeting her where sorrow and separation are unknown.
