DIED – Sarah C. Coles, Sunday morning, at her home near Liberty Center, Warren County, Iowa, in the 39th year of her age. The deceased was born in Brooks County, West Virginia, Oct 2, 1845, moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blattenburg, to Lee County, Iowa, in 1855, and from there to Warren County, Iowa in 1871. Was married to John N. Coles in 1865. The last year of her life has been one of constant suffering, but she has borne it with cheerfulness and patience. She had grown gradually worse for several weeks, until at last death came to her release, March 22nd. She sank quietly to rest in the arms of the great deliverer, Death. She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother, and a kind friend. She was ever ready to help with acts of kindness. Very many of her friends and neighbors will tenderly cherish her memory for her gentle care in sickness. She leaves a kind husband, two young daughters, and aged father, brothers and sisters, to mourn her loss. Her mother and a lovely daughter, Dora, went before her to the beautiful land of rest. The loss of this lovely child was a great sorrow and bereavement to her and to all the family; but now, after a few years of patient waiting and suffering, mother and daughter are reunited in death, and we believe are now at rest in the beautiful summer land, where they will wait for the loved ones who are left beyond. A few more weary years of toil and the work will be done. The peaceful messenger will call us one by one to bid farewell to earth and meet our loved ones on the other shore…The husband and family and the aged father have the sympathy of all their neighbors in their great bereavement. Time, the great restorer, will bring comfort and hope to them.
