John Phill Weaver

1930-2012

With his family by his side Phill, 81 went to be with his Lord on October 14 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Phill was born on October 19, 1930 to John & Eula Weaver, Cumming, Iowa and was the 2nd of 8 children. He attended Elkhart High School. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War.

Phill married the love of his life Marty Miller on August 22, 1953. He was a tire builder at Firestone until retirement. He had a passion for animals most especially horses, but he also raised pigeons and game chickens. His love of horses led him and Marty to many trail rides in Southern Missouri over the years the last one earlier this year. Saturday afternoons could find Phill watching the Hawks, Cyclones or NASCAR on TV. He was a dedicated member of the Norwalk Christian Church & delivered meals on wheels for several years.

Memories of Phill will live on through his wife Marty of 59 years his children Rob (Barb) of Colorado, Keith (Linda), Indianola, Laura (Pat) Flinn, Polk City, David of Norwalk. Grandchildren, Shawnda, Christy, Melissa, Lance, Crystal, Phillip, Elinda, Jennifer, Gina, Allison, Amber, Brittanny, & Eliza, also 18 great grandchildren. His brothers Jim (Elsie), Al & Shelley, Indianola, Carol Ann (Jr) Fleming, Audubon & many nieces & nephews.

Phill was preceeded in death by his parents, great granddaughter Courtney Rhodes, brother Robert, sisters Ronda Phipps, Glenda Tuttle, & Dixie Spencer.

Luncheon Wednesday, September 19 at 11:30 a.m. at Norwalk Christian Church, Norwalk, Iowa Burial at Aurilla Cementary following services. In lieu of flowers donations to Meals on Wheels. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Sun 16 Sept 2012.
