Betty Betts
(September 4, 1925 - May 9, 2015)

Betty was born September 4, 1925 in the family home near Panora, Iowa. She attended school in Menlo and later in Guthrie Center, graduating in 1943. After attending teachers training at Simpson College in Indianola she taught school in Country Schools in Guthrie County. Betty married John Betts on August 11, 1946. Two sons were born to this marriage, John Jr. in 1953 and Michael in 1956. Betty ws a life long member of the Methodist Church and also belonged to the UMW and ABWA. She was an avid gardener, skilled seamstress and wonderful cook who always looked forward to and enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Betty passed away early May 9, 2015 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband John Betts Sr.; her parents, James Arley and Nellie Mildred Luckinbill and siblings, Anita Briggle of Canton, S. Dakota, Walter Luckinbill of Independence, Kansas, George (Bud) Luckinbill of Menlo, Iowa and Robert Luckinbill of Chicago, Illinois. Surviving are her two sons and daughters-in-law, John Jr. and Rachel Betts of Indianola and Mike and Teri Betts of Joplin, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends. Memorial Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Center Chapel United Methodist Church which is west of Indianola on Highway 92.
