Zula maxine Chandler
(November 29, 1920 - June 25, 2015)

he only child of Gerald and Edna Freel was born Nov. 29, 1920 and past away June 25, 2015 at the Westview Care Center in Indianola at 94 ½ years of age. She graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Harry K. Chandler on Oct. 6,, 1940. To this union one child was born, Norma Jean Chandler Ball. In the early years they farmed in southern Warren County and moved to Indianola in 1967, where Zula resided until March, 2015. Zula was a two time survivor of cancer, loved reading and taking long walks until she entered the nursing home after breaking her hip. Zula & Harry spent a lot of time traveling and spent many winter's in Flordia. Zula also enjoyed taking many bus trips with the Bank to Branson. She was also known as the cookie lady after baking for several years for the Veteran's Home, and the Indianola nursing homes. She donated dozens and dozens of cookies every week. She is survived by her daughter, Norma (Clarence) Ball. Grandchildren, LuAnn Lane and Kevin Ball. Great Grandchildren, Amy (Kyle) Matzen, Emily Kaldenberg, Bradly (Shannon) Ball, Jill (Ben) Brommel, Nick Lane, Jordan & Bryson Ball and Great, Great Grandchildren Myles & McKinley Matzen and Mason Ball. She was proceeded in death by her husband Harry in 1999 and her grandson David in 1980.There was a Celebration of Zula's life at the Indianola Methodist Church on Monday June 29, 2015 with visitation at 10:00 A.M. and Eulogy Service at 11:00 A.M. Her wishes were to be cremated after the services. We would like to thank the staff and Hospice at Westview for their dedicated and generous support of Zula's life.
