(June 15, 1922 - September 17, 2015)

Dortha M. Freeman, 93, of Prairie City, Iowa and Rockaway Beach, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the Baxter Healthcare Center after a short illness. Dortha was a strong woman - a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family. She was "Mom" to many, including the sons-in-law and daughters-in-law that loved her as their own. She enjoyed creating handmade items, crocheting afghans for many of her family members; and also enjoyed playing Yahtzee and card games, including a family favorite, Pinochle. Dortha is survived by her children: Wallace Freeman, Elvira Howe, Marjorie Kelley, Pamela Bostwick, Pandia Bender, Rhonda Casazza, Randy Freeman, Dortha Freeman-Gillum, Rodney Freeman, Ricky Freeman, Doreen Terrell and Dorvin T. Freeman. Dortha is also survived by 64 grandchildren and well over 100 great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gerald W. Freeman, Sr., a son, Gerald W. Freeman, Jr., several grandchildren, and her siblings: Otho Rothman, Louis Rothman, Peter Sites, Donald Sites, Herbert Sites, Lawrence Sites, Margaret Dutton and Hazel Allen. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2015, with Funeral Services being held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015, at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Burial will be at the Sandyville Cemetery in Sandyville.
