Wanda Hammond passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, May 16, 2016 at Peterson Funeral Home. Burial will follow services on Tuesday in the Hartford Cemetery. Wanda W. Hammond was born Aug. 24, 1922 in Perry, Iowa to William and Helen Wheeler. Wanda graduated from Runnells High School and went on to work as supervisor of food service in Carlisle for 22 years, retiring in 1986. Wanda is survived by her 2 sons; A. Ray Hammond of Lacona and David Hammond of Truro, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Wanda was preceded in death by 3 brothers; James, John and Kenneth; 2 sisters, Waneta Lane and Lily Davis and her husband Audie Hammond.
