(July 24, 1932 - January 7, 2013)

Colleen Ellen Thompson, 80, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2013. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. The family will begin greeting friends at 10:00 a.m. Colleen Ellen Thompson, daughter of Joseph and Helen (De Lange) Murphy was born July 24, 1932 in Lamoni, Iowa. Colleen was joined in marriage with Marvin Dale Thompson for 60 years and made their home in Des Moines and Carlisle. She devoted her life to caring for her family and will be greatly missed. Colleen had worked for Des Moines Public Schools and Carlisle Care Center as a Nutritionist. She enjoyed walking to work every day for exercise. She liked to cook for her family, watch NASCAR, golf and other sports on TV. She had the prettiest light blue eyes that just sparkled.
Colleen and family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the wonderful employees at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill, Iowa for making her feel loved and a part of the Parkridge family. She greatly appreciated your tender loving care.
Colleen is survived by her son, Michael (Toni) Thompson; two daughters, Pam (Al) Moreland and Michelle (Eric) Thompson; five grandchildren, Todd (Kim) Thompson, Tia (DJ) Wolett, Shelby and Kelli Moreland, and Dallas Schurman; four great-grandchildren, Gavin Fedosa, Rylee, Jake and Matthew Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
