(February 26, 1934 - February 7, 2017)

Theresa Elaine Foulke , 82, of Pleasant Hill passed away Tuesday evening, February 7, 2017 at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill. Terri spent the day surrounded by family and friends in addition to hearing from family on the West Coast.
Terri was born on February 26, 1935 near Allerton, Iowa, where her family owned the Inn of the Six Toed Cat before relocating to Washington state. In 1956, Terri simultaneously earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa as well as being conferred as a Dental Hygienist by the U of I Dental College. She was working in the Des Moines Public Schools as a dental hygienist when she met her husband of 50 years, Dr. Charles Robert Foulke. They established a popular dental practice in Urbandale from which they both retired in 1992. Upon retirement Terri and Bob were snowbirds at their condo on Siesta Key, Sarasota, FL. While in residence there Terri became an accomplished watercolor artist, displaying her work in juried art shows in the Sarasota area. Terri also enjoyed sewing and knitting. She and Bob travelled the world on their own as well as with the Iowa Manufacturers Association. She was most passionate about spending time with her three grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher and Alayna, particularly at the family farm outside Hartford.
Terri battled rheumatoid arthritis for 42 years, surviving 26 surgeries. She was well-known for her courage, patience and constant positive attitude.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles (Bob) Foulke, her stepson, Steve (Cynthia) Foulke, granddaughter Stephanie (Brandon) VanVleet, grandson Chris Foulke and granddaughter Alayna Foulke. She has one great grandson, Mason VanVleet. In addition, she is survived by two nieces, Connie Jo Harrision of Pasco, WA and Sally Johnson of San Jose, CA and one nephew, Kirk Bettis of Pasco, WA. Terri was preceeded in death by her parents, Vern and Fannie Mae Bettis as well as her four siblings; Evelyn Kesterson, Ermine Thatcher, Cline Bettis and Clem Bettis.
Memorial services celebrating her life will be held Thursday, February 16 at 4 PM at the Hartford Community Presbyterian Church in Hartford, IA, followed by a reception in the lower level of the church.
