Robert Eugene Gray Jr. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. Funeral services for Bob will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Visitation with his family will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Robert was born on July 14, 1958 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Robert Gray and Priscilla Drake. Robert grew up and graduated high school in Carlisle, Iowa. Bob had many talents and enjoyed being a part of his high school music, drama, and golfing activities. Bob continued his interest in singing by performing solos and duets with his mother as a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Bob attended Iowa Wesleyan College on a golf scholarship. Robert majored in recreational therapy and went on to work for Iowa Lutheran Hospital for 35 years on the adolescent floor where he touched many young children's lives. Bob spent many years with his wife at his children's sporting events as their #1 fan. Bob was an avid golfer, Hawkeye and Packers fan. Bob spent 8 years volunteering numerous hours at his second home, the Pleasantville Golf and Country Club. Bob found great comfort and peace at his country club as well as making lifelong friendships that he cherished deeply. Bob made many memories with his family that they will forever cherish. Robert is survived by his loving wife Jill of Carlisle; Daughter, Joelle(Bradley)Link of Carlisle; Son, Robert(Shannon Tate)Gray III of Pleasant Hill; brother, Roger(Rose)Gray of Lindenhurst, Illinois; niece and nephew, Mathew Gray and Tara Gray; grandson, Bo Link and granddaughter Sawyer Marie Link coming in January whom he loved dearly. Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Gray and Odessa Drake. Memorials for Bob may be made to HCI Hospice of Central Iowa or the Pleasantville Golf and Country Club.
