Leonard C. Hudson Jr.
(June 1, 1926 – December 26, 2011)

Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa, Dec 30, 2011
Leonard C. Hudson Jr., 85. Leonard passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 after a three month battle with complications of cancer surgery. Leonard was born June 1, 1926 to Leonard C. Hudson Sr. and Ileane Hudson of Des Moines. He Graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and then graduated from Drake University. In 1949 he was united in marriage to Anita D. Oberg, also of Des Moines and had two sons, Leonard III and Reynold Chris Hudson. The majority of his career he was a Management Consultant and public speaker. From 1958 until his retirement in 1994, he was a founding partner in the consulting firm Batten and associates and then Batten, Batten, Hudson and Swab. In 1961 he moved to Carlisle and from then on savored the joys of small town life, including being a member of Carlisle's "Old Dudley Band" and a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church. He loved his family, his work, and he loved Carlisle. What gave him his greatest fulfillment though, was the nearly ten years he was his wife's full time care giver after her cerebral hemorrhage in 1994. He would often speak of how this tragedy had given him an opportunity to be her Knight in Shining Armor in a way that he would not otherwise have had. Leonard left this life at peace with God, at peace with himself, and at peace with every person he encountered on his journey. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Anita. Leonard is survived by his two sons, Leonard III and Reynold Chris, five grandchildren, Tiffany Hudson, Chelsey Klinge, Amanda Peacock, Hannah Hudson, and Caden Hudson, four great-grandchildren, Lexus Klinge, Peighton Peacock, Lana Peacock, and Titus Klinge. There are also a little boy Peacock and a gender-yet unknown Klinge great-grandchild on the way. Funeral services for Leonard will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Online condolences may be made at www.petersonfunerals.com .
